Getting Started
Create Your Account
Sign up as a tutor. You'll need to provide basic information including your name, email, and subjects you teach.
Complete Your Profile
A complete profile helps students and parents choose you. Add your qualifications, teaching experience, subjects, levels taught, and a compelling bio that highlights your expertise.
Upload a Professional Photo
A photo makes your profile more personal and easier to trust. Use a clear, friendly headshot with good lighting. Dress professionally and smile!
Set Your Rates
Research typical rates for your subjects and experience level. You can always adjust later. Consider offering a lower introductory rate to build reviews.
Stripe Onboarding for Tutors
Navigate to Payment Setup
Go to your tutor dashboard, click the Settings tab, and press 'Set Up Payment Processing'. You'll be redirected to Stripe to complete onboarding.
Personal Details
Enter your full name, email address, home address, and phone number. Make sure these match your official ID documents.
Business Details
When asked for your industry, select 'Other Educational Services'. If you don't have a website, add a short business description such as 'I provide tutoring and sell educational resources'.
Bank Details
Enter your Irish bank account IBAN where you'd like to receive payouts. Earnings are paid out directly to this account.
Start Earning
Once your details are submitted, you're ready to accept session bookings and resource purchases. Your share of each payment goes to your Stripe account when the student pays, and Stripe pays it out to your bank account on its payout schedule.
Identity Verification (Later)
After some time, Stripe will require you to verify your identity by uploading a government-issued photo ID and proof of address. When this happens, you'll see a warning on your Tutor Dashboard with a link to complete it. Make sure to do this promptly to avoid any interruption to your payouts.
Optimizing Your Profile
Write a Compelling Bio
Start with your key qualifications, then explain your teaching approach. Mention specific exam success rates if you have them. Keep it personal but professional.
Highlight Your Qualifications
List your degrees, teaching qualifications, and any relevant certifications. If you've achieved high points in the subjects you teach, mention it.
Showcase Your Experience
Include years of tutoring experience, number of students helped, and any notable results. Parents want to see proven track records.
Get Your Garda Vetted Badge
If you have Garda vetting, upload your vetting document from your dashboard. Once our team approves it, a Garda vetted badge appears on your profile, which helps parents feel confident booking tutors for their children.
Running Great Sessions
Be Prepared
Review the student's needs before each session. Have relevant materials ready and a clear plan for what you'll cover.
Start Strong
Begin each session by reviewing what was covered last time and setting clear goals for today. This helps students feel oriented and engaged.
Be Patient and Encouraging
Every student learns differently. Celebrate small wins and provide constructive feedback. Your encouragement makes a huge difference.
End with Action Items
Summarize what was learned and give specific homework or practice tasks. This helps reinforce learning between sessions.
Communication Best Practices
Respond Quickly
Aim to respond to messages within 24 hours. Quick, helpful replies make students and parents more likely to book.
Set Clear Expectations
Discuss goals, scheduling preferences, and cancellation policies upfront. Clear communication prevents misunderstandings.
Keep Parents Informed
For younger students, send brief updates to parents about progress and areas to focus on. They appreciate being kept in the loop.
Handle Cancellations Professionally
Life happens. If you need to cancel, give as much notice as possible and offer to reschedule promptly.

The best way to get great reviews is to be a great tutor. Go above and beyond for your students.
Ask for Reviews
After a few successful sessions, politely ask students to leave a review (reviews can only be left by students, once per session). Most happy students are glad to help.
Respond to Feedback
Thank students for positive feedback. If you receive constructive criticism, take it on board and show you're committed to improving. If a review breaks our rules, you can report it.
Build Long-Term Relationships
Regular students are your best asset. Be reliable and flexible to keep them coming back.
